Sky

3 1/5 x 5 inches, oil on canvas panel, 2011

About this time last year, I painted this small study of the sky seen through the canopy of trees.  I did a series of them and this one was my favorite.

  1. I can see why you like it. It reminds me of what I see from our hammock.
    So peaceful.

    1. I get so mesmerized by the stark contrasting patterns, especially if there's a slight breeze and there's movement. Oh hammocks....and spring.

  2. Lovely. Did you paint the trees first, then sky? A little of both?

    1. Thank you.
I painted the trees first to help maintain those sharp edges. I painted from the darkest tones to the lightest.
