He's the general secretary for the Protestant Apprentice Boys, a loyalist group from the Northern Ireland city of Derry. The photo I referenced was part of an article from the Smithsonian magazine (March 2009) about the ongoing struggles to achieve peace between the Protestants and Catholics. I had several titles in mind based on what I read about him but I liked 'the secretary' the most because he is one and he doesn't look like what I would typically think of as a secretary. And what does a secretary look like? I liked the question myself. I wonder if I had titled it, say, 'the father' if the drawing would incite less curiosity? Probably.
What is he secretary of?

ReplyDeleteYup, I wouldn't have given "the father" a second thought as far as his role in the world. Interesting!
